Likér s dlouholetou mystickou historií původem ze Švýcarska. Módní symbol Francie ovlivňující během 19. století tvorbu většiny umělců se postupně stával nápojem nejchudších vrstev. Absint je v té době lékem zapomnění na bídu každodenního života, stává se symbolem alkoholismu a rozkladu společnosti, a to až do doby, kdy byla jeho výroba zakázána (1915). Základní surovinou absintu je pelyněk pravý; 70% likér obsahuje rovněž celou řadu éterických olejů (pelyňkového, anýzového, fenyklového a koriandrového). Jedinečnost absintu spočívá v obsahu thujonu, psychotropní látky, jehož dřívější neregulovaný obsah v likéru se podílel na zvláštních stavech, jež mohli spotřebitelé absintu pocítit. Dnes je už absint zbaven toxinů a našel si znovu mnoho příznivců.

Hard to get and pricey, but definitely worth it. Not only does Century contain a massive amount of the all-important thujone, it is also one of the best-tasting absinthes I have ever had - a rare combination!

I really like this one! Much more affordable than Century, my all-time favourite, but still very, very good. Maktub is the party spirit from the jazz age with a clean, fresh taste and plenty of buzz. Recommended.

Perhaps the only fault of Doubs Mystique is its relatively low thujone content -- so don't expect to dance with the Fairy :-) But if you drink absinthe for the taste alone, you will not be disappointed.

I confess. Yes, Absinthium 1792 is a rather cheap, artificially coloured oil mix, but I still like the taste and do drink it from time to time. Louches nicely, which is not at all usual for an absinthe of this class.

I just got a bottle of this Jelinek Absinth from czech republic. It looks alright, but I havnt yet tried it. Its hard to come around any kind of absinth where I live. I have been searching high and low for years, and this is the first bottle I have found, so I bought it immediately. Excited to try it out in a few days, even though it appears to be a lower-tier absinth.
